Recognizing this inconsistency, Cathay Pacific has taken a bold step by partnering with the esteemed local roaster, The Coffee Academïcs, to craft a coffee blend tailored specifically for the unique conditions of high-altitude dining, where our ability to taste and smell can be significantly muted.
The talented team at The Coffee Academïcs conducted extensive experimentation on roasting profiles, aiming to amplify aroma while modifying the flavor to meet the challenges of altitude.
After a thorough process of tastings, which meticulously assessed essential characteristics such as flavor, aroma, body, acidity, and aftertaste, they proudly selected the exclusive "Cathay Blend."
This blend is crafted from beans sourced from Vietnam and Brazil, recognized for their complex and rich profiles. The beans undergo a French roasting method, resulting in a cup that delivers a luxurious aroma interlaced with notes of dark cocoa, roasted almond, and a subtle hint of floral honey, followed by a grounding earthy finish.
Notably, despite being a darker roast, the Cathay Blend manages to preserve a vibrant, caramelized flavor without leaning towards bitterness or excessive acidity.
To further guarantee quality and reliability, each serving is packed into a biodegradable filter that ensures water interacts with the coffee grounds in an even and gentle manner, enabling consistent extraction and clarity, thus producing a clean, robust cup each time.
